The Blade That Was Broken

Prior Reading: The Tomb of Elendil

Aragorn had been pouring over maps of Middle earth for days on end. His secret mission would take him and his fellowship far past Eriador into the very depths of evil. He had a path laid down but he would discuss it with Gandalf first. Before anything else, he would need his sword.

The heroes had returned with the Silithar and the time had come to forge the blade anew. Aragorn and the heroes presented the shards of Narsil and the Silithar to the Elven-smiths and were told that it would take some time. The heroes waited until evening and returned to the smiths to find Aragorn waiting for them.

They arrived at the forge to find Elrond, Arwen, Gandalf, and Frodo watching the master smith Hemeldir forge the blade. The heroes and Aragorn greeted their friends fondly.

Elrond reminisced over the time that had passed since he first gave Aragorn the shards of Narsil when he was interrupted by an older hobbit.

Bilbo Baggins was upset he had potentially missed the festivities, as he called it. Gandalf promptly asked Bilbo to stop talking so they could hear what Hemeldir had to say as he had approached them. Hemeldir told of the many hours they had spent to forge the blade anew but their work had born fruit.

Lord Elrond received the sword from Hemeldir and presented it to Aragorn, claiming it his birthright.

Aragorn took the blade and held it to the nightsky and proclaimed it Anduril, Flame of the West.

The group celebrated and rejoiced at the new weapon that had given them hope for success in their perilous journey. With the weapon forged, Aragorn and the heroes returned to the guest house. As the heroes said their goodbyes to Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir, Elrond appeared before them. He believed the Nazgûl that had fled from the Trollshaws was now in the Misty Mountains. He bade the heroes to make for Gloin's camp to learn if this was true. With that, the heroes began the next leg in their journey...
